Social programme
For over a decade, the Association has run a successful social programme, providing subsidised trips to many places of interest around the UK, and offering events and activities in London. We have taken our residents to Bath, Brighton, Hever Castle, Oxford and Stonehenge. We have booked tickets for West End and fringe theatre, visited museums and exhibitions, and football matches.
The programme provides our residents with opportunities to meet socially, and enjoy some of the many experiences that the UK has to offer, at a reduced cost. Adults pay a reduced fee for events, while children often participate free of charge. We are conscious of the fact that most of our residents are on limited budgets, and the subsidy provides an opportunity for them to get the most out of their overseas experience. It is rare for a housing association to have this type of programme, and we are justifiably proud of it. In 2010, the social programme was re-launched, and with further investment we are now in a position offer a monthly activity, rather than the shorter summer programme that we have provided in the past.
This year the social programme will include:
- A visit to a football match
- A theatre trip
- A visit to a castle
- A visit to the ballet/opera
- A visit to the seaside
- A visit to a historic town
- A visit to Kew gardens
- A symposium
- A pantomime
- Our summer garden party
