Plans for 2016/7

Our Board will be reviewing our plans for the year April 2016 – March 2017 at its meeting on 23 February and this is your opportunity to tell us your priorities.

 

The Board will be considering 3 major projects – the re-roofing of Jeannine House, improvements to the heating system at Jerome House enabling residents to have more control over their heating and the installation of new paving and planting at Sentosa. Much will depend upon the cost of these schemes for which, as yet, we don’t have firm prices. We also hope to carry out a number of other minor improvements such as continuing the programme of lighting replacement in common areas and upgrading of laundries (which is actually carried out by the laundry supplier).

Major Works

The new bike store at Jerome can now be used. It’s located in the basement light well at the rear of the building and can be accessed via the other, lesser used, door at the front of the building. Follow the corridor to the end, enter the lobby and go down the two flights of stairs in the small middle staircase. At the base of the stairs there is a door to the new store. We hope you find it useful.

 

We are just completing the refurbishment of the common hallways at Sentosa.

Wireless broadband

We’ve trialled the KeyCom wireless broadband service at Anson and Carleton Roads and it works well. We have completed the cabling of Jerome House. Because the IT infrastructure around S Kensington is rather old we are having to arrange the installation of a new fibre optic cable to our building. This was originally scheduled for completion in December 2015 but we’ve been let down by the contractor and the council who have to carry out work to the Glendower Place road. We are awaiting a new installation date which is likely to be February. As soon as the system is working we’ll let you know what the arrangements are for accessing the new service.

 

We’ve completed the cabling of Sentosa and started at Impala. We should start cabling at Jeannine in February. It is our aspiration that Wireless Broadband will be available to all residents from March/April 2016. Existing tenants will have to make an additional payment to us of £18 per month for the service and new tenants will automatically pay this in with their rent and have immediate access to the service.
