BROADBAND

We’ve installed fibre optic wireless broadband at our new development at Anson Road and are now looking at extending this service – initially to Jeannine House and Sentosa House. We’ll be carrying out a feasibility survey over the next few months.

The system is installed and maintained by a specialist company that works with a number of student housing providers and universities. Generally they provide a local router, sockets and hubs to each flat and provides about 20Mbits per user. We pay the company a monthly fee for the service which we then pass on to residents as part of the rent, generally about £15 per month. It’s complicated, because this will need to be retro-fitted and we would need a lot of subscribers right at the beginning of the service to make it economic – and most residents already have a service.

We’d be pleased to have your views on this and you can contact us at housing@zebrahousing.com

HEATING

Whilst the warm weather is due to continue we don’t think we want to turn the communal heating systems off quite yet. You should be able to turn off individual radiators in your homes if you find it too warm. If you are not able to, let us know and we’ll either fix the problem or install the required controls.

ANSON & CARLETON DEVELOPMENT

ANSON ROAD DEVELOPMENT

Barring a few bits and pieces it’s just finishing.

The new pay-laundry (which brings the scheme into line with all our other residences which have pay laundries) which serves both the Anson and Carleton flats is now operational and the old laundry has closed. Steve will be sorting out a rota for laundry use next week. We won’t forget that we have promised to re-decorate and re-carpet the main hall..

CARLETON ROAD DEVELOPMENT

Our builder, DDC, is now on site and demolition of the derelict building at the rear will begin next Monday 13 April.
